Dinner at Rebekah’s Restaurant, in Mellieha, on Friday, 28th September, 2012.

It is not very often, that one comes across a gem when it come to restaurants in Malta. Consequently, as a restaurant reviewer, I am sometimes taken unawares when I venture into an establishment at which I had not dined before, and find that the place is a veritable, gourmet venue, offering classic surroundings and a magnificent dining experience. Such a place is REBEKAH’S RESTAURANT in Mellieha.

Rebekah’s Internal View.

Rebekah’s Restaurant is situated in a 300 years old, converted farmhouse, which still boasts and shows with pride, the stone work and architecture of that period in time. Dining areas are located within the interior section in two rooms, one forming the main restaurant and the other used for discreet and private dinners for small groups, business entertainment and special occasions. The farmhouse’s traditional courtyard is also used for al fresco dining and to accommodate smokers. Air-conditioning throughout is used in the hot Summer months, whereas, a fireplace is used to heat the interior in Winter, which I would assume, would give a cosy, homely feel during some special dinner or Sunday lunch.

Having recently come under new management, Rebekah’s new restaurant manager, Manuel Attard, brings 16 years’ worth of experience in catering and fine dining to the table, while Patrick Mangion, the establishment’s executive chef, puts his vast experience of Mediterranean cuisine to good use.

A touch of class.

Only the freshest local ingredients make it into Rebekah’s typically Mediterranean cuisine and one can categorize this restaurant as an exclusive fine dining restaurant in its own right, but one which comes without the baggage of high dining or wine prices, and which consequently make this establishment a highly sought after up-market restaurant.

The Menu:

Rebekah’s Amuse Bouche.

The menu contains the Chef’s selected and signature dishes, and these are changed seasonally to make use of the freshest ingredients available each season. Apart from the main menu, a specials menu is offered daily.

Once our food and drinks orders were taken we were served with a vegetable spring roll amuse bouche.

The restaurant was full during our visit. All tables within the main restaurant hall, and the private section as well as the al fresco section which forms part of the traditional farmhouse yard, were all occupied, but each table and each client were very efficiently attended and looked after.
