Restaurant reviewed during a Dinner visit on the 9th of March, 2012. Is this a restaurant or a Thai village? The soft sound of the cascading waterfall, water flowing under the bridge, orchids, and greenery all around, transports you to another world once you enter this exotic venue. Soft Thai music, Thai and Chinese waiters and waitresses in traditional smart costumes, soft lights, the cobbled tile flooring which gives the impression that one is walking on a village road, and private function areas inside typical Thai village huts and small houses, complete the fantastic atmosphere of this unique venue. The menu at the Blue Elephant has been changed recently in fact the new menu was introduced in January of this year, and is divided in various sections as follows: A la carte Vegeterian menu; The Cooking of the Past a la carte menu; The Cuisine of Today a la carte menu; The Kitchen of Tomorrow a la carte menu. The above men...

After the harvest in September, vines are left rest, leaves start to fall during Autumn, and all vines are then crfopped to the required production for the next season. When the new buds start coming out in April , the following illustrations show how a typical vine would evolve. In some regions of the world, the months might be different due to the geographical location of the country in question, in others events might be a month earlier or a month later from those indicated due to climatic conditions, daylight, sunshine, and climatic, macro and micro temperatures.

Dinner at Patrick's Lounge, Restaurant & Steakhouse, on Friday, 6th June, 2012. Patrick's Lounge, Restaurant & Steakhouse, of Victoria, Gozo, has now been in operation for about 9 years or so, and is the result of Patrick Buttigieg's years of experience at his family's restaurant in Xlendi, which was at that time known as Tmun- Xlendi. This was one of the leading fish restaurants in its own right in Gozo at the time. Tmun Xlendi was eventually moved to Mgarr where it was called and still is as Tmun-Mgarr, and which is still run by Patrick's father. After completing his studies with ITS (Institute of Tourism Studies), Patrick opened the restaurant initially as Tmun-Victoria, but as this was frequently mixed up with Tmun - Mgarr, it was renamed as Patrick's Tmun some time after. This has now neccessitated another rebranding exercise and Patriick's Tmun-Victoria is now being branded as Patrick's Lounge, Restaurant & St...

Reviewed during various visits, in December, 2011, February, 2012 and November 2012. Revisited for the 2013 reviews on 10th May, 2013. Tarragon Restaurant, was last reviewed by us and published here on the 25th of February, 2012, as well as on previous occasions, and another visit had been on the cards for some time. This establishment has been consistent and synonymous with quality cuisine and excellent service since, its Chef/Patron Marvin Gauchi opened its doors for the first time in January, 2007. Marvin insists that under his guidance and direction, the kitchen team at Tarragon provide the very best cuisine, produced from the freshest ingredients, ranging from heart-warming soups, pasta dishes, a selection of delicious starters, with chunky and innovative main dishes, complemented by a selection of home-made desserts. Decor is casual and welcoming with seating in dining areas both on the ground floor as well as on the ...

Dinner at The Arches Restaurant, Mellieha on Friday, 2nd November, 2012.   The Arches in Mellieha, with a tradition going back some thirty years or more, and having gone through various management and staff changes, as well as numerous face-lifts and refurbishments, projects itself to be an exclusive, first class restaurant, boasting exquisite international cuisine, freshly prepared by their Chefs, on top of which impeccable silver service, starched linen, and a sophisticated ambience are designed to guarantee a memorable evening of fine dining in the North of Malta.   Being situated in the very busy George Borg Olivier Street, in Mellieha, parking was a bit difficult to find, but we parked easily in the main square opposite the church, but afterwards were told that parking was also available in the parking facilities of the hotel across the street. This was noted for our next visit. On arrival we were greete...

L’Agape Restaurant, Rabat, Malta.

DINNER AT L'AGAPE RESTAURANT - 19TH MAY,2012. During the passage of time, reviewing wines and restaurants, I have come across various categories and styles of establishments at which one can either go simply to have a bite to eat, or better still to dine in style. Some venues are found to leave a lot to be desired, others are considered average, others good or very good; but it is always a very pleasant surprise to discover a new place, which does not project any grandiose or pretentious illusions about itself, but then one finds that it is an excellent establishment, offering high quality cuisine, excellent service as well as reasonable value for money. Such a discovery was L'Agape Restaurant in Rabat, yesterday for dinner. L'Agape is not a large restaurant, in fact it is quite small with downstairs and upstairs seating, and caters only for just about 35 to 40 guests at any one time. The upstairs dining area may be used for...

Dinner at Chapter One Restaurant, Paceville, St. Julians, on Friday, 1oth August,2012. Chapter One Restaurant is one of those rare gems that are discovered by chance especially in locations such as central Paceville, and the St. Julians area, which locations are teaming with eateries of all genres. Situated in Church Street, just a few meters down from the Millenium Chapel, the restaurant's name Chapter One with the caption underneath stating "where passion and genuineness come together" caught my eye, and decided to find out if this was an just an idle boast, or whether the establishment means it. Passion and genuineness are strong words, which demand to be challenged; we were not disappointed. Chapter One opened its doors just over two years ago in 2010 by Chef/Patron Hiram Cassar, after having completed his training and studies at ITS, followed by stints in various restaurants and hotels in Malta, and after having obtai...

Dinner at The Villa, St. Julians on Tuesday, 27th November, 2012. Nicely executed dishes, with quality and fresh ingredients. Four persons in group, each ordering different dishes to test the versatility of the Chefs. We were not disappointed as each dish was well prepared and presented with very good cuisine. Average price for the dinner (4 persons) as shown in the following photos was Eur45 per person, which included one bottle of Beoujolais Nouveau 2012, two bottles of water and espressos, plus complimentary Meridiana liqueurs. Good value and very good, attentive service, with quality cuisine and presentations. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere.         Starters: Pappardelle with Chorizo Sausages; Rabbit Livers; Fresh Tomato and mussels soup; Raviolacci di Carciofo.     Main Courses: Grilled Irish Beef Rib-eye; Pan-frid Quail; Chicken S...
