The WRMC Restaurants Quality Recognition Awards are the ultimate and most prestigious Awards that are conferred annually to the very best restaurants in the Maltese Islands.

The 2015 WRMC Awards Ceremony was the third edition of this highly respected annual event.

What do the awards mean:

WRMC One Silver Spoon Award: Outstanding Restaurant in all respects - Ambience; atmosphere and decor; cleanliness; cuisine quality; preparation and presentation; management efficiency and professionalism; service; wine list choices and mark-ups; value for money in accordance with concept. At present there are just twelve (12) WRMC Silver Spoon Restaurants in Malta and Gozo.

The WRMC Blue Riband Award: awarded to the top 30 restaurants in the Maltese Islands, which restaurants offer “premiumised informality” in different concepts, taking also the full adjudication criteria listed for the Silver Spoon restaurants. This is a very prestigious award which denote a very good restaurant. This also include the Blue Riband Award conferred on the top Sunday Buffet Lunch restaurants -maximum awards in this category five (5).

The Top Ten Family-Oriented Casual Dining Restaurants Award - very well sought after this category is very important, here we award the very best restaurants that fall under this category, and which give clients the very best value for money for very good food and service.

The Valletta Waterfront Restaurants Awards - sponsored annually by Valletta Cruise Port plc - all restaurants at this location are inspected several times each during an adjudicating year, and the best sox overall are awarded this award by concept.

The Lifetime Achievement Award - newly introduced with the inaugural award being conferred on Mr. Joseph Vella, Executive Chef at the Hilton Malta. This award is conferred on an outstanding personality within the culinary and hospitality industry. Chefs; Hoteliers; Restaurateurs; Sommeliers; Mairre D’s and Head Waiters; restaurant managers; long serving service staff; etc are all elligible to be considered for this award, which is decided upon by a specially appointed panel.

The Promising Top Chef Awards - male and female - recipients must be exceptional young chefs, working and running kitchens in their own, family or employer’s restaurants, and who would have already stamped their mark on quality cuisine, preparation and presentations through the restaurants normal a la carte menus.

The WRMC Restaurants Quality Awards Gala Dinner and Ceremony is an annual event at which the very best restaurants in the Maltese Islands are awarded through a very strict criteria and adjudication process, through thorough initial inspections, followed by further, anonymous inspections by the WRMC appointed professional surveyors over a period of one year. The coveted SILVER SPOON AWARD which is only conferred on the top six restaurants that must have obtained not less than 9/9.5 points out of 10; as well as the BLUE RIBAND AWARD that is conferred on the 30 Best Restaurants in the Maltese Islands.
