Zest Restaurant in St. Julians, described by its owners as the place where East meets West in both dining and decor, is a well appointed, chic restaurant that offers the best in European and Asian cuisine prepared by a team of experienced local and Asian chefs that succeed to bring to the table exquiste choices from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, as well as Continental European cuisine given an Asian twist.

Dinner on the occasion of my son's wedding anniversary Wednesday, 27th November, 2013.
It goes without saying that if one mentions a romantic restaurant, then the Blue Elephant at the Hilton is the ultimate in this regard. The establishment is a wonderful mini replica of a remote village in Thailand, with exceptionally thought out decor, well spaced tables to create that atmosphere of intimacy and privacy, when on the other hand it can also cater for larger groups in secluded dining areas, that do not interfere with private conversations and closeness of couples or smaller groups.

It is not very often that I go to a new restaurant and the establishment manages to exceed my expectations in more ways than one, from arrival to departure, through exquisite and attentive service , through the presentation of cuisine of a very high standard in the freshness, quality and preparation of the ingredients, and excellent value for money.
Waterbiscuit is a new restaurant that has replaced the "Eastern Breeze Restaurant" at the InterContinental Hotel. The Villa as it is very commonly and fondly known has a very varied history. The property is a 19th Century classic house with a magnificent rounded staircase leading to beautiful terraces overlooking Balluta Bay, and to the main entrance. I do remember the massive disputes that arose in the beginning of this century when the Le Meridien Hotel and SPA were being projected to be built on this location, with environmental NGO's fighting tooth and nail to preserve this magnificent property. Good sense finally won the day, and when the hotel was completed in 2006, this was constructed right behind the villa on its land and gardens, thus preserving the once summer residence of Chevalier Antonio Cassar Torregiani for posterity. Week-end stay between the 1st of November and the 3rd of November, 2013.
A short weekend break between the 1st and 3rd of November, was a welcome respite from daily routines although, it goes without saying that mixing a bit of work with pleasure through our restaurant reviews will always be on the cards. The Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz in Gozo, once again proved to be a splendid choice for relaxation and dining, with both the L'Ortolan Restaurant as well as the Baldakkin Bistro have come a long way in the last few months since our last stay there earlier this year in February, in cuisine quality, preparation and presentation and restaurant layouts, with highly improved menus and exceptional service.
