I have recently conducted a series of wine tasting sessions of various wine samples supplied by Casavini  of Fgura, from their imported stock. I have already published a feature of wines from this importer, this time from the Terre di Vino range  in our sister website, Reno Spiteri's Wineopolis , which can be logged in through the "Wineopolis" link given at the top menu bar of this website. An exceptional 100% Primitivo wine produced from over 70 years-old vines consequently producing low grape yields. This wine is produced by Luciano and Mario Ercolino, the former winemakers at “Feudi di San Gregorio” of Campania.   Gozo - break 15th/17th February, 2013.   Week-end break in Gozo between Friday 15th and Sunday 17th February, proved to be very enjoyable with quite nice mild weather, a bit of warm sun and no rain. The Kempinski San Lawrenz Hotel and Spa was also good in most respects, as well as our visits to various restaurants on this green isle.     A couple of set-backs were the closed main roads from Victoria to Xlendi and from Gharb to Dwejra with the usual lack of proper road signage to show the way through the maze of secondary roads to these two normally very popular sites. Traffic management in Gozo needs a lot of polishing up, it was bad enough last Summer with most roads including the main street in Victoria, in disarray, and road signage that led motorists in a veritable circle to the same place where one would have started at in the first place, but TM never seem to learn from experience. ...

 2012 Inspection and review. BOTTEGA DEL VINO at the Hilton Malta, is it a wine bar? Is it a casual diner? Is it an exquisite, up-market restaurant? It is all of these things and much much more. The 2013 WRMC (Wines and Restaurants of Malta. Com) Silver Spoons Recognition and Quality Rating Awards to restaurants on the Maltese Islands has been exclusively held : On Tuesday, 15th of January, 2013 at the Portomaso Suite, Hilton Malta, St. Julians. All restaurants that have been reviewed by inspectors and survey teams from the WRMC during 2012, and as listed in the WRMC Top 30 Restaurant Guide,  (check out the main menu bar for the up-dated guide), were all  invited to attend.  A very good turn-out of some 120 guests representing these restaurants including those from four, five-star hotels  took part in this first event, which has launched the prestigious WRMC Silver Spoon Awards, as well as certification to the top 30 restaurants reviewed and rated by the WRMC inspectors during 2012..  Reviewed during various visits, in December, 2011, February, 2012 and November 2012. Revisited for the 2013 reviews on 10th May, 2013. Tarragon Restaurant,  was last reviewed by us and published here on the 25th of February, 2012, as well as on previous occasions, and another visit had been on the cards for some time.   This establishment  has been consistent and synonymous with quality cuisine and excellent service since, its Chef/Patron Marvin Gauchi opened its doors for the first time in January, 2007. Marvin insists that under his guidance and direction, the kitchen team at Tarragon provide the very best cuisine, produced from the freshest ingredients, ranging from heart-warming soups, pasta dishes, a selection of delicious starters, with chunky and innovative main dishes, complemented by a selection of home-made desserts. DINNER AT L'AGAPE RESTAURANT - 19TH MAY,2012.  During the passage of time, reviewing wines and restaurants, I have come across various categories and styles of establishments at which one can either go simply to have a bite to eat, or better still to dine in style. Some venues are found to leave a lot to be desired, others are considered average, others good or very good; but it is always a very pleasant surprise to discover a new place, which does not project any  grandiose or pretentious illusions about itself, but then one finds that it is an excellent establishment, offering high quality cuisine, excellent service as well as reasonable value for money.  Such a discovery was L'Agape Restaurant in Rabat, yesterday for dinner. Dinner at Chapter One Restaurant, Paceville, St. Julians, on Friday, 1oth August,2012.  Chapter One Restaurant is one of those rare gems that are discovered by chance especially in locations such as central Paceville, and the St. Julians area, which locations are teaming with eateries of all genres.  Situated in Church Street, just a few meters down from the Millenium Chapel, the restaurant's  name Chapter One with the caption underneath stating  "where passion and genuineness come together" caught my eye, and decided to find out if this was an just an idle boast, or whether the establishment means it.
